It was a very green year in Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach NC!

Michelle Clark branded her logo on the face of recycled green shopping bags and handed them out to clients and friends.

As one of the consistent top sellers in the Wrightsville Beach market, Broker Michelle Clark has always gravitated toward innovative sales tactics. This year she invested in recyclable shopping bags imprinted with the brand she shares with her husband, Tim Clark of Collins & Clark.

Waging a war with wasting less, she sprinkled green tips into her local advertising campaign, initiated a recycling drive at her Intracoastal Realty office and, last summer could be frequently seen at the Wrightsville Beach Farmers Market passing out her green bags.

Around the house, the Clarks are reducing their carbon footprints, unplugging alarm clocks in guest bedrooms, turning off appliances when not in use, reusing scrap paper, cloth towels and napkins, glass bottles instead of plastic containers, donating instead of discarding household items.

"Tim calls me a recycling Nazi," Michelle said. She is earning a reputation for recycling empties at other peopleÃÔ parties; or, for her Landfall neighbors, who have had the option of curbside recycling since May 2009, she has even gone so far as to request door-to-door delivery of the bright blue A-1 recycling bin.

"We think twice before we do anything," Michelle said. "ItÃÔ become a lifestyle. ItÃÔ fun; itÃÔ challenging."
