Tip of the Week: Terra Cotta pots

Lightweight plastic pots on your patio is an inexpensive way to show off colorful spring flowers.  While the pots look good, they're harmful to the environment.  The plastic pots are made from polyvinyl chlorice (PVC), which is a material referred to as "the poison plastic".  During production of PVC, toxins like mercury & phthalates are released & linked to health problems in the reproductive & immune systems.  PVC cannot be recycled & is not biodegradable.  PVC products can contaminate a load of 100,000 bottles if tossed into the recycle bin.

Terra cotta pots are much more eco-friendly because it's a natural material & can be recycled.
